How it started...

In the sunny city of San Diego, two souls discovered each other under the mirrored reflections of a disco ball. Their interaction began over Avery's "hipster" hat, which he offered to Ashlee in exchange for her number. Little did they know, this playful banter would mark the beginning of a beautiful love story.

Initially, Ashlee was somewhat hesitant about Avery's eccentric tastes, but she quickly became enamored with his humorous and playful demeanor. Conversely, Avery was immediately captivated by Ashlee's fun-loving and free-spirited nature, recognizing her as the type of woman he had always hoped to meet in San Diego.

Their relationship flourished as they spent nights dancing away at events like CRSSD in San Diego and Day Zero in Tulum. They shared laughter, friendships, and a passion for music that drew them even closer. However, just as their connection deepened, the world was hit by an unforeseen challenge—the COVID-19 pandemic.

Faced with lockdowns and uncertainty, Ashlee and Avery decided to move in together. It was during these challenging times that their bond strengthened significantly, as they nurtured their relationship with homemade dinners, game nights with friends, and gardening.

How it's going...

Finally, the world reopened, and together, they seized the opportunity to travel and explore! Their adventures took them to exotic locales like Greece and Lithuania, as well as more familiar spots such as Texas, Boston, Weekapaug, and, naturally, Joshua Tree. Yet, their most treasured moments are those spent at home in Ocean Beach.

Ashlee admires Avery's culinary skills, his generosity, and his readiness to help others. She is captivated by his inquisitive, scientific mind, which is driven by curiosity and wonder. Above all, she values Avery's childlike joy, his ability to find the silver lining in even the darkest moments.

For Avery, Ashlee's determination to break free from her small hometown and explore the world was both awe-inspiring and motivating. He was enchanted by her Texan roots and the emotional depth she discovered in old country music, often reflecting on her family. He particularly treasures her spiritual side, recognizing that their differing life perspectives complement and strengthen their bond.

The Engagement...

When the time was right, Avery planned an intimate and heartfelt proposal during the golden hour of sunset in the Aspen mountains. With tears of joy, Ashlee said "Yes!" The serenity of the moment, coupled with Avery's parents welcoming Ashlee into the family, made it unforgettable.

As a couple, they share a passion for curating and attending events within their San Diego community. Their home has become a hub of hospitality, where Avery's cooking and Ashlee's hosting skills make any guest feel like family. They particularly revel in their shared love of Burning Man, where they host Camp Found It, fully embodying their love for community, art, and music.

Among the milestones they've celebrated both individually and together, a couple have stood out—the adoption of their sweet puppy, Honey, and the purchase of their first home in picturesque Point Loma. This new abode has become their sanctuary of love and dreams, symbolizing their commitment and dedication to building a life together.
